About ten years ago, I remember seeing this cute YouTube video that featured a talking shell. The animation style was really unique and I hadn’t seen anything quite like it on the video sharing platform at that time.
The Shell’s name was Marcel…and they had Shoes on! Marcel brought a whole new meaning to the word adorable in a little over three minutes.
As time went on, I kind of forgot about the little shell. But a few days ago, I was at the movies and a trailer for an upcoming animated film began to play….starring Marcel!
Just like the original YouTube video, the film is called “Marcel The Shell With Shoes On.”
The movie will follow Marcel on a journey to find their family. And it was made in documentary style!
Jenny Slate, who played Marcel in the YouTube videos returns to voice the shell in the movie.
Most trailers are just meant to get audiences excited for a movie. But this one for Marcel…feels like a work of art in its own right. I found this preview very moving.
I can’t wait to see this because there’s a good chance it will end up becoming a favorite from 2022.
Marcel’s adventure begins in the heat of blockbuster season on June 24!
