The Goonies Reunite!!!!

I’m so excited!!!

Why you ask? Because the cast and crew of “The Goonies” just reunited via Zoom!!!

Actor Josh Gad put this together on his YouTube channel as a fundraiser for the Center for Disaster Philanthropy.

Oh what a wonderful reunion it was too! I was smiling from ear to ear for the entirety of the 26 minute video!

The cast of this film is iconic, and it was so cool to see all of them again interacting with one another.

It kind of felt like a family reunion.  One where everyone who was apart of or a fan of the original film was invited!

My favorite thing in this video was seeing the cast reenact their old lines. They all performed them with so much energy! You can tell each and every one of them had a great time making this film. And the impact it made on their lives is very prevalent.

Cyndi Lauper even hopped on the Zoom chat to talk about her hit song, “The Goonies ‘r’ Good Enough.” This film is so epic, it even has an amazing theme song!

It was wonderful to see Chris Columbus, Richard Donner and Steven Spielberg join in on this reunion too.  It’s funny because all three of those filmmakers have done things in their career that I have absolutely loved.  So no wonder “The Goonies” is one of my favorites, as the three of them teamed up to make it!

I think there are a lot of things that made “The Goonies” a classic. But for me, I think it was putting myself in the shoes of the cast on screen. The idea of going on an adventure like the one in this movie fascinated me as a kid. I wanted to do that!  In fact, I still want to. This film still strikes a chord in me to this day. It always will.

I know Spielberg mentioned in the video that talks of a Goonies sequel have gone on for ages.  I don’t know how others feel about this, but I think with the right script, and with the same heart as the original, a second installment could definitely work. I want the old cast to return in some form too!

But even if we never get a Goonies 2, this movie will always be special. It will keep getting passed down from generation to generation, and it will always resonate with new audiences. It’s the kind of movie that can ignite the adventurous spirit in anyone.
